@Djayice25 there is quite a lot of difference actually ... for starters, in racquetball there is no lower limit on the main wall (like the tin in squash) ... the main wall n the side walls do not have any upper limit ... only the back wall has an upper limit usually 12 feet (i think) ... the ball in racquetball bounces MUCH more than a squash ball ... the racquets too have a different shape ... etc etc

@StumpyClark3217 it is dangerous because the ball is the same size as the socket of your eye, and the ball travels really fast and you can get in someones way easily, this adds up to a few casualties where the ball hits ur eye and detaches your retina. but it is illegal for under 18 to play squash without wearing squash goggles. and in my opinion everyone should have to wear them cos onemistake and ur out for the rest of u r life

@mrbobevans In the words of my docter, Squash is the single most dangerous sport in terms of developing sports injuries. Although, I suppose Squash becomes less dangerous when your better at it, and the opposite for tennis. Anyway, what do I know, I'm from Canada where the sport is not that popular. I play 3 times per week but we never see it on TV, and the only player we've ever heard of is Jonathon who is from my home town, and runs a school out of my club.

I completely agree with your comments about squash being superior to racquetball. While tennis is better from a spectator/TV standpoint than squash, squash is easier on the body for the most part. As a tennis player, I have had tennis elbow (sucks) and I now have a wrist injury to my non-dominant hand - from the wonderful two-hand backhand shot. Tennis players have more injury to their knees as well. Hip injuries are more common to squash than tennis.

@hosamgmc ohhhkay if you've ever played raquetball you'd know how physically demanding it is. You need a ridiculous amount of stamina. And its actually harder to play when the ball is so bouncy.

I am sure it is possible to get the BBC from one of the full cable packages that are offered in the US. Many of the great shows that are shown on History Channel are in conjunction with the BBC. Every time PBS raises money during their telethon, they show Celtic Woman The show really gets on my nerves.

PBS used to be great (no adverts), but is becoming obsolete. We have Discovery, Animal Planet and History Channel that provide better shows, but with adverts.

I don't understand why squash isn't more popular in the UK. I can't get enough of it. It's great for fitness and hand/eye coordination. There's a huge range of shots you can use and it's not all about wellying the ball like these guys do. Great sport.

Examples; Rugby-America Foot Ball; Beer like german beer-Lite Beer; Coffee (the real thing)-American (almost tea); Squash-Raquetball. According to Forbes Magazine, squash is the healthiest sport. You sould have seen these two in Swedish Case Open in Linkoping, last year i think it was. Easily the best squash match I have ever seen in my life. Even though Matthew only was number 9 seed, he could easily have played an even match with Karim Darwish. Matthew even said after the match "yeah, well, doesn't get thougher than that". That was EPIC!

I completely agree that squash isn't for everyone. The conditioning aspect is very brutal. Tennis appeals to the masses more than squash, and women in particular. Women enjoy the social aspect of tennis that squash just does not offer. In my hometown of Louisville, KY USA, the game is played primarily by wealthy, preppy adult males. There is almost no youth programs. For squash to grow in the US, outdoor squash courts should be made available in the public parks.

However, one would expect the same standard to be used for both players. That is, if one is very fair with one's calls, not leaving it to the ref, then one would expect one's opponent to be the same. Power seems like he is being an ass but should he be required to incriminate himself? (Compare Blake/Gonzales in the Olympics. nah squash can get really bad, squash can get a lot of really bad calls not just as in tennis "in or out" is the 99% of bad calls but in squash it could be "in or out" "down or up" "double bounces" are hard to see sometimes. "lets (interferences of play" we actually have a new system that 3 refs areneeded for squash not just one. hope that helps

@BarronBOB I have to agree about your assessment on squash being better than tennis. Playing outdoors is a big advantage for tennis, especially when the weather is nice in my city (Mid March thru early Nov) and the ability to play free in the parks. People want to be outside. Is squash played outside in other countries. To me, squash should be played outdoors as there is no roof to deal with. Also, are there any pro tournaments outdoors.

Soccer(or football, whichever one you prefer) and Tennis are played differently, so you can't make a comparative nomination as to which one's a "better sport". Tips would be (i) wipe your hands on the wall before each point (ii) use anti-perspirant or a resin pad in your pocket to dry up sweat from your hands (iii) get an absorbent grip and (iv) don't run around so much, the better you play the less you should need to run around (anticipation, execution and tactics should all help).

Yes, WSF rules have a 90-second interval between games but the PSA has used two-minute intervals for many years. I know because I am a referee & referee assessor/instructor. I've officiated ~200 PSA matches as single referee, marker, & central and side referee in the 3-ref system. Most recently I was a referee at the 2010 Tournament of Champions. Do you have a reference for the 120 pause claim? I'm curious because I've seen several hundreds of PSA matches over the past years and never have I encountered this odd rule. Also, paragraph 7.2 in the rulebook states the following: "There shall be a 90 second interval between the end of the warm-up and the commencement of the first game and between all games". Actually the break between games is 90 seconds. The break between points is at most 15 seconds, but often it's more like 5, especially when people like Gaultier or Ashour are playing. The commentators often sit where the audience and players can't hear them so that's why they talk during points.

Great tip! I would however recommend to the more advanced player, Landing the ball there on the full gives your opponent a very easy volley which they can put almost anywhere, including the all too often knick! Imagine that towel about 1-2m INSIDE the wall, so you want the ball hitting the wall about where your opponent is looking to hit it. This way the volley opportunity is diminished and the shot is cramped against the wall, yet it will still be very tight on the back wall and not come out!

In italy we use "Vialone Nano" rice or at least "Carnaroli". It was a good try anyway. I'd rather add the Squash first in the onion and olive oil, than the rice and finally the vegetable broth. For arborio rice 15 min are enough. At the end you stop the fire and you add a nut of butter and some parmisan cheese for make it creamy.

Mmmm... This is not butternut squash risotto. This is white risotto w/ butternut squash. You don't roast the butternut squash and add it to the cooked rice, but cut it in thiny cubes and put them into the pan BEFORE adding the broth, than keep on stirring until everything is cooked. In 20 min turn off the fire and add a teaspoon of butter.That's all No saffron, no cilantro. Just rice, onion, garlick, broth, oil and butternut squash. But i appreciate you know Arborio rice! Good food traveller! :)

Generally, you can't. What happens when you use a long grain rice, what will typically happen is that you'll end up with more of a sushi rice. What makes this dish is the high starch content, which is more common with a short grain rice like Carnaroli, Vialone Nano, and Arborio.

In my first few weeks of vermicomposting I put the entire remains of a squash in there - skin as well as all the seeds - and the seeds started sprouting and I was picking out little sprouts for MONTHS afterward.

Not 100% sure how many worms were in there - I let the population grow from a small size. There seemed to be quite a few though. You are correct - I left the squash on top of the cardboard, and did not add/remove anything throughout the experiment for demonstration purposes. I don't always bury my wastes, but generally I would at least add some new bedding in over top.

How many worms are in that bin? I think I am going to use a huge bin this time with lots of no-see-um gnat screens covered holes. The food wasn't buried for demonstration purposes. Normally you bury the food because it decomposes faster. They feed from the bottom first, avoiding living in their own waste, and leave their waste on the surface and work their way to the top as their food runs out. In the top 2", fungus gnats and fruit flies can breed and survive on non-paper waste. Bury deep.

I just made the soup it was great. One suggestion. Please, Please don't taste the soup and then dump what's left in the spoon back into the pot. It might be OK for your family but it is not a thing you want to show beginning cooks. Again great recipe. Loved it.

personally i wold say that using some roasted squash in the soup would be a great way to add some richness and depth to the flavours. 400F squash is sweeter than boiled squash. Keith is the chef here though, me might say he wants soup to taste like soup, not like roasted squash. irregardless i reward a rating of five stars and a big huge THANKS KEITH YOU RULE.
